Langkawi Part 1
So the proper update on my Langkawi trip as promised. Well this is only part one of the update, really too much photos, too much happenings, too much fun. So we the poor people had to stop at Penang for a day as there's only one ferry to Langkawi and it's at 0815hr and our flight was 1040hr. So we reach Penang and decided to get a room at Church Street Inn. The room is cheap and there's 2 single bed and 1 queen size, just nice for the 4 of us.
So on our way to the hotel, we asked the cabbie what's nice to eat around that area and he recommended Kapitan! Nasi Biryana and prata etc! It's like 10mins walking distance from the hotel and yes the food is naiseee!!!!
Red signboard! Super easy to recognise!
Beef Murtabak
My gosh this boneless chicken thingy is damn tasty! The gravy is like ... well I don't know how to describe but all four of us love it! Not too salty? And the taste of the spice is just nice? Okay what a bad food critic I am. zz
Thosai with Mutton!
Their famous Claypot Chicken Briyani.
But, it's not exceptionally nice at all? The rice was rather tasteless and we had to eat it together with the gravy of the boneless chicken thingy. At least the chicken was nice. Not worth the try though.
Anyway the food was damn cheap and we had all these at 1900hr.
Then we headed over to New Gurney for their famous food street! @peekaboozee had us eating non-stop the whole trip I swear bur when we reach and the food is on the table, we have totally no problem putting them into our mouths. Gluttons oh gluttons.
The food street at New Gurney!
Assam Laksa!
I totally loved this! But the rest doesn't seem to like this very much. It's sour yet spicy. Not the tomyam kind but assam sour! Okay I don't know how to describe but I've been really craving for it ever since I stepped food in Singapore.
WHERE SELL THIS PLEASE ANYONE WHO KNOW TELL ME!!!
Fried Kway Teow.
Soso only, not exceptionally nice also.
Fried oyster
Can be better though, Vivo's Kopitiam has the best fried oysters so far!
Fruit Rojak!
Love this too. Assorted fruits like pineapple, cucumber, green mangoes tossed in sweet sauce sprinkled with peanut bits and crunchy crackers! Totally love the sour taste of the green mangoes. Very crunchy too!
MuahChee!
The table next to us was having this and @menwithmistakes had to get his hands on this and it turns out to be nice! Well different from our usual pasar malam duh. It's super soft unlike the usual pasar malam which is more chewy and rubber-like? This kind of melts in your mouth! 2thumbs up!
Gurney Paragon.
After stuffing ourselves with food we had to walk around to keep the food from coming up the wrong way. Wanted to catch a movie but there was no good shows or timings and also wanted to Sing k but it was too expensive so we decided to head back to the hotel for the night.
Started our second day bright and early and wet! It rained on us when we woke up but luckily the rain stopped when we were about to set off for the jetty! And yes with more luck, the jetty wasn't as far as it seemed and we got there on foot! Saved us tonnes of $$$$ (Y)
The whole ferry ride was about 3hours as it stopped over at our dive site then head on to mainland Langkawi itself. All of us totally zonked out on the way there (serious post night aftereffects kicking in by the way). Anyway we reached and was approached by "mafia-looking" guys who kept insisting renting cars/bikes to us? I know the locals mean no harm but they were very persistent and I got these feeling that they might "parang toh" you if you refused HAHAHAAHAHA but they didn't! And hungry us went to had KFC for brunch. How coolz.
Map of Langkawi!
So Jetty is at Kuah Town and our hotel is at Pentai Cenang so again, cabbie cabbie~ It was about an hour's drive and I get pretty depressed looking at the living conditions of the locals. But but all the greens along the way did make me feel alot better after that.
Our accomodations during our trip! The Cabin! Well it's not really a hotel but more of a chalet. Cost us 150RM per night and all four of us could share a room! So it's pretty affordable considering it's location (the beach just right behind), accessibility ( walk out the facilities and it's the street already and there's a ramily burger stall next to it!)
Was quite surprised by the interior initially as it's so hotel-ish?! HAHA we figured everything is from Ikea and true enough it is! But it was a comfortable stay throughout the trip. The afternoons were really hot but the airconditioning made it bearable. Well on a side note: NOT SOUND PROOF AT ALL if you get what I mean.
With the sun high up in the sky we headed to the beach behind our lodge.
Clear blue sky, white fluffy clouds, white soft sand and clear cool water. What more can we ask for!
Was having so much fun then we discovered these!
LALA!
The whole beach is littered with these and they were underneath us buried in the sand all along but the waves exposed them. So Mama glutton @peekaboozee made us picked them and decided to boil them for supper. Then we realized they can moved!! Like using their flesh, they open their shell a little and stick their flesh out like a tongue and start moving around. GROSS TTM. And we all had a handful of them and it tickles when they move. And friendly local pacek helped us picked them too! Me and @peekaboozee went digging for crabs but we failed terribly LOL.
@menwithmistakes
happykiddo_90 with his lalas!
* anws fast forward to dinner *
Wondered the streets but we didn't managed to find some seafood restaurant that people recommended so we settled for thai food.
Seafood Tomyam Soup
Chicken in spicy sauce
Stir-fried sotongs
Black Pepper Beef
Okay not gonna give any more comments on food cause all I'd managed is "the food is nice!". So wtfz.
Wondered the whole street of Pentai Cenang and headed back to the beach for star gazing!
Okay so I don't know how to end this.
PART TWO COMING UPZ SOON.
